How to add ssh key in Gnome 3 keyring or kwallet

Gnome 3 keyring (Fedora 16):  No drama, worked out of box.

KDE4 (RHEL 6), usually openssh-askpass is installed, that mean SSH_ASKPASS is set to gnome-ssh-askpass. Thus for kwallet to save ssh when needed, ensure:

  1. ksshaskpass is installed
  2. openssh-askpass is NOT installed.

I clicked the link thinking I would get a nice tutorial on how to use the apps mentioned in the title. But all I got was works or doesn’t work.

      My bad. 😛

      “Works”, means
      1) when the key is used first time (say, connect to a host) with a non-empty pass phrase, gnome-ssh-asskeypass pops up a dialog for you to enter pass phrase, and the pass phrase is stored in gnome keyring (or kde wallet)
      2) the stored key is used then, so you don’t need to enter pass phrase again.

“Doesn’t works” means more then one points above are not true.
